Limkokwing is the chosen training ground for children of Felda settlers in the government’s RM10 million plan to provide them with new skills in creative multimedia, fashion and interior design, and broadcasting.
The government hopes the 481 students who make up Generasi Baru, will ultimately take the Federal Land Development Authority to a new level in eradicating poverty and transforming the rural economic landscape.
The Felda students’ presence at Limkokwing is in line with the Prime Minister’s vision to innovate the rural economy.
Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak launched the ‘Creativity and Innovation for Felda’s New Generation’ programme at the Limkokwing campus recently.
“The challenge is to become part of the national economy, so that one day the children of Felda settlers will be making software programmes for HSBC, animated movies for Hollywood, or become owners of world-class brand.”
Limkokwing President Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing pointed out that the end-goal was to enhance their employability beyond what was on offer at Felda schemes.
“We hope to expose them to our culture of lifelong learning, knowledge mining and creative development so they can improve their marketability as human capital for the new global environment.
