THE ONES WHO MADE A DIFFERENCE

I took tis quiz from Nightingale's blog.Wrote MY answers below each ques.

1. Name the 5 wealthiest people in the world.
The Sultan of Brunei,Bill Gates.....duno the rest...=P
2. Name the last five Olympic gold medalists.
No idea. Not a fan of sports even tho my dad's a national athelete....
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss Universe Contest.
Sushmita Sem,Diana Hayden,i think.....
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
I knw 2 scientist won it a few months bck fer discoverin tat gastric is caused by bacteria...am i right?
5. Name the last half dozen Oscar Award winners for best actor & best actress.
Halle Berry?.....5 more duno...

How did you do? The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.
Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one.

1. List a few teachers who added your journey through school.
Mrs.Tan,Pn.Rahsia,Mr.Harry Tan,Mrs.Lim Sioung Yau,Miss Quek,Mrs.Raja...
2. Name 3 friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
Janice,Peters,Chern Ling
3. Name 5 people who have taught you something worhtwhile.
Ramesh,Peters,Tini,.....
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
Ramesh,My family,my frens....
5. Think of 5 people you enjoy spending time with.
Ramesh,My family,my cousins,Tini,Su,Janice,Peters,Abs,Lin,Deepa,Preesha,and the list goes on.....

Easier isn't it? This just shows that the people who make a difference in our life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care. Share this to those people who have made a difference in your life.

Below is an article taken frm the LUCT website:

Limkokwing is the chosen training ground for children of Felda settlers in the government’s RM10 million plan to provide them with new skills in creative multimedia, fashion and interior design, and broadcasting.

The government hopes the 481 students who make up Generasi Baru, will ultimately take the Federal Land Development Authority to a new level in eradicating poverty and transforming the rural economic landscape.

The Felda students’ presence at Limkokwing is in line with the Prime Minister’s vision to innovate the rural economy.

Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak launched the ‘Creativity and Innovation for Felda’s New Generation’ programme at the Limkokwing campus recently.

“The challenge is to become part of the national economy, so that one day the children of Felda settlers will be making software programmes for HSBC, animated movies for Hollywood, or become owners of world-class brand.”

Limkokwing President Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing pointed out that the end-goal was to enhance their employability beyond what was on offer at Felda schemes.

“We hope to expose them to our culture of lifelong learning, knowledge mining and creative development so they can improve their marketability as human capital for the new global environment.

Attitude

Blessings: just a thought.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than three billion people in the world.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof overhead and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of this world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish somewhere, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If your parents are still alive and still married, you are very rare.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer a healing touch.

If you can read this page, furthermore, you are more blessed than the third of the world - over two billion people - that cannot read at all.

Chocolates!!!!

I lurrrrveeeee chocolate....yummmy!They can simply perk up ur mood n make u feel betta wen ur havin one of those bad days...n guess wat, they r gud 4 ur heart too!

A chocolate a day keeps the doctor away!

Throughout history chocolate has been associated with romance and sharing.

And i found about tis website wic offers u a wide range of knowledge related to chocs: http://www.finedarkchocolate.com/Chocolate_News/index.asp

an article taken frm da net goes like tis:

Just in case you need an excuse to eat chocolate, new research shows that the flavonoids present in dark chocolate may help reduce heart disease. Scottish scientists measured platelet function in volunteers who ate 100 grams of either white chocolate, milk chocolate or dark chocolate. (The clumping of platelets can contribute to the narrowing of arteries.) White chocolate had no effect on platelets, milk chocolate had a mild effect, but dark chocolate reduced one type of platelet clumping by 92 percent. Dark chocolate contains 70 percent cocoa, compared to 25 percent in milk chocolate and 0% in white chocolate.

In another study done at the University of California in San Francisco and published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, researchers had volunteers eat 46 grams of high-flavonoid dark chocolate or low-flavonoid dark chocolate for two weeks. In those who ate the high-flavonoid chocolate, the arteries were better able to dilate, which would help increase blood flow.
If you're going to indulge your chocolate cravings to improve your heart health, be sure to eat dark chocolate, avoid chocolate that contains hydrogenated oils and be moderate! Too much sugar will outweigh any benefits you might get from the flavonoids.

But for now,all i wanna say is:Go spoil urself wit chocolates!
Im gona indulge myself wit a bar of afta lunch...wanna join me?

Brownies

Many parents are hard pressed to explain to their youth why some music, movies, books, and magazines are not acceptable material for them to bring into the home or to listen to or see.

One parent came up with an original idea that is hard to refute. The father listened to all the reasons his children gave for wanting to see a particular "R" Rated movie. It had their favorite actors. Everyone else was seeing it. Even church members said it was great. It was only rated "R" because of the suggestion of sex...they never really showed it. The language was pretty good...the Lord's name was only used in vain three times in the whole movie. The teens did admit there was a scene where a building and a bunch of people were blown up, but the violence was just the normal stuff. It wasn't too bad.

Even if there were a few minor things, the special effects were fabulous and the plot was action packed. However, even with all the justifications the teens made for the "R" rating, the father still wouldn't give in. He didn't even give his children a satisfactory explanation for saying, "No." He just said, "No!"

A little later on that evening the father asked his teens if they would like some brownies he had baked. He explained that he'd taken the family's favorite recipe and added a little something new. The children asked what it was. The father calmly replied that he had added dog poop.

However, he quickly assured them, it was only a little bit. All other ingredients were gourmet quality and he had taken great care to bake the brownies at the precise temperature for the exact time. He was sure the brownies would be superb.

Even with their father's promise that the brownies were of almost perfect quality, the teens would not take any. The father acted surprised. After all, it was only one small part that was causing them to be so stubborn. He was certain they would hardly notice it. Still the teens held firm and would not try the brownies.

The father then told his children how the movie they wanted to see was just like the brownies. Our minds are tricking us into believing that just a little bit of evil won't matter. But, the truth is even a little bit of poop makes the difference between a great treat and something disgusting and totally unacceptable. The father went on to explain that even though the movie industry would have us believe that most of today's movies are acceptable fare for adults and youth, they are not.

Now when this father's children want to do something or see something they should not, the father merely asks them if they would like some of his special brownies . . . and they never ask about that activity again.

Are we civilized?

Civilization is the encouragement of differences. Civilization thus becomes a synonym of democracy. Force, violence, pressure, or compulsion with a view to conformity, is both uncivilized and undemocratic.

Genius Jokes

Genius Boyfriend
A worried father confronted his daughter one night. "I don't like that new boyfriend, he's rough and common and bloody stupid with it."
"Oh no, Daddy," the daughter replied, "Fred's ever so clever, we've only been going out nine weeks and he's cured me of that illness I used to get once a month."

Practically a genius
On a shopping trip to the city, a backwoods farmer bought a 24-piece jigsaw puzzle. He worked on it every night for two weeks. Finally, the puzzle was finished.
"Look what I've done, Jess," he said proudly to a visiting neighbor.
"That's surely somethin', Willard. How long it take you?"
"Only two weeks."
"Never done a puzzle myself," Jess said. "Is two weeks fast?"
"Darn tootin'," Willard said. "Look at the box. It says, 'From two to four years.'"

Nice limericks

Do u know wats a limerick?

A limerick is a five-line poem written with one couplet and one triplet. If a couplet is a two-line rhymed poem, then a triplet would be a three-line rhymed poem. The rhyme pattern is a a b b a with lines 1, 2 and 5 containing 3 beats and rhyming, and lines 3 and 4 having two beats and rhyming. Some people say that the limerick was invented by soldiers returning from France to the Irish town of Limerick in the 1700's.

Limericks are meant to be funny. They often contain hyperbole, onomatopoeia, idioms, puns, and other figurative devices. The last line of a good limerick contains the PUNCH LINE or "heart of the joke." As you work with limericks, remember to have pun, I mean FUN!Have fun with some of the limericks i wanna share wit u guys....

There once was an old man of Esser,
Whose knowledge grew lesser and lesser,
It at last grew so small
He knew nothing at all,
And now he's a college professor.

A flea and a fly in a flue
Were caught, so what could they do?
Said the fly, "Let us flee."
"Let us fly," said the flea.
So they flew through a flaw in the flue.

And burned her entire

Then a happy thought hit her

He had no toys

She was inside,
And the smile was on the face of the tiger.

It shook the whole house
So Matt got rid of the cat.

And gave him a very large bill.

There was an announcer named Herschel
Whose habits became controversial,
Because when out wooing
Whatever he was doing
At ten he'd insert his commercial.

and made cider inside her insides

There once was a lady named Perkins

They were so nice
She ate too much spice

It got so cluttered
She shook and muttered

Who had a magnificent ass;
Not rounded and pink,
As you probably think---
It was grey, had long ears, and ate grass.

Dear John to a Cigarette

My Darling,
How can I express what you've meant to me these many years? The bond we've shared has been stronger than any other in my life. You were always there for me when I was alone. When I was scared you gave me strength. When I was happy, you shared my joys. When I was angry you fueled my fire with your own. When I was hungry you nourished me and kept me slim. When I turned my back on you, you waited patiently, knowing I would return. You never judged me or held a grudge. You welcomed me back with open arms. You were practically my lover--we knew eachother so intimately. You invaded every pore of me. Just the smell of you can set my heart pounding. The feel of you in my hand, so smooth and firm makes my blood boil even now. God, I want you so badly. You and I have been together through so very much.

How can I tell you I have to go? I'll just do it...This is "Goodbye." I love you and I always will, but this is killing me. It's not healthy and I'm beginning to see that now. I have changed, grown, but you have stayed the same. We've been going in different directions for awhile, and I just haven't been able to admit it to myself. Now I can. You're giving me wrinkles on my face. You take my money. You make my breath smell bad and my teeth yellow. None of my friends like you and look what you've done to my mother-in-law and grandfather! I won't be your victim anymore. I've actually hidden from my friends when I was sneaking around with you. I can't take you anywhere in public without you embarassing me. I can't count the number of times I have told my children to wait so I could go see you. You are not more important than my children. I am so angry at myself for putting your first. You had such a hold on me. Even when I was sick, you called me, and I came without question.

I feel like I"m losing myself to you. We've always been together. Is there a "me" without you? Surely there is. I bet she's someone you wouldn't recognize. You always thought I was weak and I'd be back, but I'm not weak anymore. I'm discovering how strong I really am. I can go and not look back, except on those lonely, rainy nights when the kids are in bed, and I drag out those old pictures of us toghether. I'm sure you know I'll miss you. It's not like these last 14 years have meant nothing to me. But my future means more. I have to do what's right for me now.

Letting you go hurts more than I can describe. I lay here at night thinking of you and missing you so badly. Every time something makes me angry I just want to go to you. I actually have a physical pain in my chest and my throat tightens when I think of you. I know if I just run to you, you'll take me back and make the pain go away. But this pain will heal and hopfully so will the other scars you've left on my heart and lungs. I pray it's not too late for me to give my body a fresh start. This pain will not kill me and that which does not kill me only makes me stronger.

Don't wait for me this time. I know you'll find others to take my place, younger, more naive women to seduce. I may be tempted from time to time, but you can bet I won't be back.

Goodbye Ciggie.....

It's called Apophis. It's 390m wide. And it could hit Earth in 31 years time

Scientists call for plans to change asteroid's path Developing technology could take decades

Alok Jha
Wednesday December 7, 2005

In Egyptian myth, Apophis was the ancient spirit of evil and destruction, a demon that was determined to plunge the world into eternal darkness.
A fitting name, astronomers reasoned, for a menace now hurtling towards Earth from outerspace. Scientists are monitoring the progress of a 390-metre wide asteroid discovered last year that is potentially on a collision course with the planet, and are imploring governments to decide on a strategy for dealing with it.

Nasa has estimated that an impact from Apophis, which has an outside chance of hitting the Earth in 2036, would release more than 100,000 times the energy released in the nuclear blast over Hiroshima. Thousands of square kilometres would be directly affected by the blast but the whole of the Earth would see the effects of the dust released into the atmosphere.
And, scientists insist, there is actually very little time left to decide. At a recent meeting of experts in near-Earth objects (NEOs) in London, scientists said it could take decades to design, test and build the required technology to deflect the asteroid. Monica Grady, an expert in meteorites at the Open University, said: "It's a question of when, not if, a near Earth object collides with Earth. Many of the smaller objects break up when they reach the Earth's atmosphere and have no impact. However, a NEO larger than 1km [wide] will collide with Earth every few hundred thousand years and a NEO larger than 6km, which could cause mass extinction, will collide with Earth every hundred million years. We are overdue for a big one."

Apophis had been intermittently tracked since its discovery in June last year but, in December, it started causing serious concern. Projecting the orbit of the asteroid into the future, astronomers had calculated that the odds of it hitting the Earth in 2029 were alarming. As more observations came in, the odds got higher.

Having more than 20 years warning of potential impact might seem plenty of time. But, at last week's meeting, Andrea Carusi, president of the Spaceguard Foundation, said that the time for governments to make decisions on what to do was now, to give scientists time to prepare mitigation missions. At the peak of concern, Apophis asteroid was placed at four out of 10 on the Torino scale - a measure of the threat posed by an NEO where 10 is a certain collision which could cause a global catastrophe. This was the highest of any asteroid in recorded history and it had a 1 in 37 chance of hitting the Earth. The threat of a collision in 2029 was eventually ruled out at the end of last year.

Alan Fitzsimmons, an astronomer from Queen's University Belfast, said: "When it does pass close to us on April 13 2029, the Earth will deflect it and change its orbit. There's a small possibility that if it passes through a particular point in space, the so-called keyhole, ... the Earth's gravity will change things so that when it comes back around again in 2036, it will collide with us." The chance of Apophis passing through the keyhole, a 600-metre patch of space, is 1 in 5,500 based on current information.

There are no shortage of ideas on how to deflect asteroids. The Advanced Concepts Team at the European Space Agency have led the effort in designing a range of satellites and rockets to nudge asteroids on a collision course for Earth into a different orbit.

No technology has been left unconsidered, even potentially dangerous ideas such as nuclear powered spacecraft. "The advantage of nuclear propulsion is a lot of power," said Prof Fitzsimmons. "The negative thing is that ... we haven't done it yet. Whereas with solar electric propulsion, there are several spacecraft now that do use this technology so we're fairly confident it would work."

The favoured method is also potentially the easiest - throwing a spacecraft at an asteroid to change its direction. Esa plans to test this idea with its Don Quixote mission, where two satellites will be sent to an asteroid. One of them, Hidalgo, will collide with the asteroid at high speed while the other, Sancho, will measure the change in the object's orbit. Decisions on the actual design of these probes will be made in the coming months, with launch expected some time in the next decade. One idea that seems to have no support from astronomers is the use of explosives.

Prof Fitzsimmons. "If you explode too close to impact, perhaps you'll get hit by several fragments rather than one, so you spread out the area of damage."

In September, scientists at Strathclyde and Glasgow universities began computer simulations to work out the feasibility of changing the directions of asteroids on a collision course for Earth. In spring next year, there will be another opportunity for radar observations of Apophis that will help astronomers work out possible future orbits of the asteroid more accurately.

If, at that stage, they cannot rule out an impact with Earth in 2036, the next chance to make better observations will not be until 2013. Nasa has argued that a final decision on what to do about Apophis will have to be made at that stage.

"It may be a decision in 2013 whether or not to go ahead with a full-blown mitigation mission, but we need to start planning it before 2013," said Prof Fitzsimmons. In 2029, astronomers will know for sure if Apophis will pose a threat in 2036. If the worst-case scenarios turn out to be true and the Earth is not prepared, it will be too late. "If we wait until 2029, it would seem unlikely that you'd be able to do anything about 2036," said Mr Yates.

The Little Girl Who Dared To Wish

This story brought tears to my eyes.I hope u do too.....

As Amy Hagadorn rounded the corner across the hall from her classroom, she collided with a tall boy from the fifth grade running in the opposite direction.

"Watch it , squirt." The boy yelled as he dodged around the little third-grader. Then, with a smirk on his face, the boy took hold of his right leg and mimicked the way Amy limped when she walked.

Amy closed her eyes. Ignore him, she told herself as she headed for her classroom.

But at the end of the day, Amy was still thinking about the tall boy's mean teasing. It wasn't as if her were the only one. It seemed that ever since Amy started the third grade, someone teased her every single day. Kids teased her about her speech or her limping. Amy was tired of it. Sometimes, even in a classroom full of other students, the teasing made her feel all alone.

Back home at the dinner table that evening, Amy was quiet. Her mother knew that things were not going well at school. That's why Patti Hagadorn was happy to have some exciting news to share with her daughter.

"There's a Christmas wish contest on the radio station," Amy's mom announced. "Write a letter to Santa, and you might win a prize. I think someone at this table with blonde curly hair should enter."

Amy giggled. The contest sounded like fun. She started thinking about what she wanted most for Christmas.

A smile took hold of Amy when the idea first came to her. Out came pencil and paper, and Amy went to work on her letter. "Dear Santa Claus," she began.

While Amy worked away at her best printing, the rest of the family tried to guess what she might ask from Santa. Amy's sister, Jamie, and Amy's mom both thought a three-foot Barbie doll would top Amy's wish list. Amy's dad guessed a picture book. But Amy wasn't ready to reveal her secret Christmas wish just then. Here is Amy's letter to Santa, just as she wrote it that night:

Dear Santa Claus,

My name is Amy. I am nine years old. I have a problem at school. Can you help me Santa? Kids laugh at me because of the way I walk and run and talk. I have cerebral palsy. I just want one day where no one laughs at me or makes fun of me.

Love, Amy

At radio station WJLT in Fort Wayne, Indiana, letter poured in for the Christmas wish contest. The workers had fun reading about all the different presents that boys and girls from across the city wanted for Christmas.

When Amy's letter arrived at the radio station, manager Lee Tobin read it carefully. He knew cerebral palsy was a muscle disorder that might confuse the schoolmates of Amy's who didn't understand her disability. He thought it would be good for the people in Fort Wayne to hear about this special third-grader and her unusual wish. Mr. Tobin called up the local newspaper.

The next day, a picture of Amy and her letter to Santa made the front page of the News Sentinel. The story spread quickly. All across the country, newspapers and radio and television stations reported the story of the little girl in Fort Wayne, Indiana, who asked for such a simple yet remarkable Christmas gift -- just one day without teasing.

Suddenly the postman was a regular at the Hagadorn house. Envelopes of all sizes addressed to Amy arrived daily from children and adults all across the nation. They came filled with holiday greetings and words of encouragement.

During that unforgettable Christmas season, over two thousand people from all over the world sent Amy letters of friendship and support. Amy and her family read every single one. Some of the writers had disabilities; some had been teased as children. Each writer had a special message for Amy. Through the cards and letters from strangers, Amy glimpsed a world full of people who truly cared about each other. She realized that no amount or form of teasing could ever make her feel lonely again.

Many people thanked Amy for being brave enough to speak up. Others encouraged her to ignore teasing and to carry her head high. Lynn, a sixth-grader from Texas, sent this message:

"I would like to be your friend," she wrote, "and if you want to visit me, we could have fun. No one would make fun of us, 'cause if they do, we will not even hear them."

Amy did get her wish of a special day without teasing at South Wayne Elementary School. Additionally, everyone at school got another bonus. Teachers and students talked together about how bad teasing can make others feel.

That year the Fort Wayne mayor officially proclaimed December 21 as Amy Jo Hagadorn Day throughout the city. The mayor explained that by daring to make such a simple wish, Amy taught a universal lesson.

"Everyone," said the mayor, "wants and deserves to be treated with respect, dignity and warmth."

Footprints in the Sand

This is my most favourite poem. Most of u must hav read it b4. It helps to instill faith and belief toward GOD.

One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one
belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he
looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest
times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, You said that once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all
the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The Lord replied,"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would
never leave you.
During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it
was then that I Carried You."

The birth of a new blog in the blog world

I have always read my many friend's blogs and be amazed that they pour in so much of what goes around in their life in their blogs. For me,it seems more like writing a diary.Blogs are online diary, aren't they?Diaries are supposed to be a secret,or so i thought before getting to know the BLOG.

When I am given a diary,i will fill it up in the beginning enthusiatically every single day.And as the time passes by,i will begin to feel bored and the diary will end up being my notebook.I still do fancy having a diary these days but i know i won't be writing much in them.I guess i am a lazy person. However, i do have a new diary for the 2006 given by my friend and insurance agent,Suraenan Raj or more fondly known as "Mama".And i can't wait to start writing in them and i promise to myself that i won't stop writing in it this time.

But now that i have decided to start a blog of my own, what's gonna happen to my diary?Just lie like that in my drawer?Pity my new diary.

Oh ya,wondering why i had started my own blog?
Because i am curious and want to find out what's so great in having a blog since many of my friends have one.It seems like a trend nowadays. Also to share with my friends what's happening in my life.Nothing great i can assure you.
I'm typing so slow right now as i am not using any short forms that i normally use when i type a mail or message.A major breakthrough!Trying to make a good impression on my 1st posting.Hahahaha!

It's 6.26pm and i am seating next to Tini in her office.(IH)She would be going to brickfields later to get some stuff and we will have our dinner at Naga's Restaurant.Right now,it's one of my favourite indian restaurant as it's very classy and cosy. Will ta pau for my sister her dinner. It's quite pricey so watch what you order.

Just made up my mind that i would be getting my double decker bed today. It's the cheapest i could find.RM200.Free delevery as the shop is exactly opposite my apartment.I had surveyed the furniture shops in Puchong and elsewhere, where the cheapest i could find was RM280 and above. On top of that,RM50 for delivery.Shucks man!!!!!

Am also gonna get a 2 door wardrobe from Carrefour. It costs RM159.90.Free delivery within 30km but it's DIY.Meaning i got to fix the cupboard myself.Tini,Su and my boyfriend are definetely gonna help me out as i can't possibly fix the whole cupboard all by myself!

Missing my bf right now. It's gonna be 1 week since i last saw him.He has been busy with his 2nd bro's wedding preparation. He wanted to come and see me today but i told him not to.Told him to come and see me on Sunday.Wanna go out somewhere nice for makan makan. And yes dating.2+1.Well,what the hell? When we go out anywhere,it is dating. What else can it be?Duh!!!!Nutty me!

Any place to be recommended? Not so pricey please as i gotta save alot this month!Spending so much for the double decker bed and wardrobe already.Budget lari.Plus there's this new year celebration to think of!!Argghhhh!!!!

Will continue watchin my Harry Potter & the Goblet Of Fire DVD tonight before i sleep. It's the 3rd day today i am continuing to watch it.Still not finished.

Feeling quite sleepy and lazy. It's gonna rain soon.As always.Rains every night.Cosy to sleep at night.

*Yawn*

I guess it's the end of my 1st posting. Will try to make my posts more fun and interesting. It's a learning experience.

And guess what,i won't be typing full and proper English in my next post!Short forms i miss you!!!!!

To my friends, thanx for reading my blog and i hope you will read it daily and get sick and bored of it soon!
